WHERE ARE YOU AND WHAT AREAS DO YOU COVER?

We are based in North Leeds. Many of our customers are local and others have come from further afield - other parts of West Yorkshire and East and North Yorkshire.

WHY DO YOU ONLY LOOK AFTER CERTAIN ANIMALS?

It really is best to stick to what we know. We have owned small furries for many years and are knowledgeable about how to provide them with the care they need, their welfare, how to spot signs of illness and so on. We have found that our customers choose us for this reason, knowing that their special friends are in capable hands while they're away.

We don't board cats as Keith is allergic.

We cannot board chinchillas or ferrets as we don't have enclosures large enough and lack the space for chinchillas to get the "out of enclosure" exercise that they need.

We don't board birds or reptiles as we lack knowledge in these areas and have limited space.

WHY DO I HAVE TO BRING MY RABBIT'S VACCINATION CARD WITH ME BEFORE MY PET CAN BOARD WITH YOU?

Rabbits should have a primary injection and then yearly booster injections to protect against two deadly rabbit diseases - Myxomatosis and Viral Haemorrhagic Disease (VHD). It has recently been discovered that there is a second strain of VHD and vets are strongly recommending all rabbits are vaccinated against that too with the second vaccination taking place two weeks or more after the first.

For the benefit of your pet, our own pets and the other pets we have boarding with us, we need to know that your rabbit is protected which is why we ask to see the vaccination cards that your vet should have given you. All small animal boarding services request this from rabbit owners and insist the rabbit's vaccinations must be up to date, otherwise they unfortunately won't be able to board.

MY GUINEA PIG IS GETTING OLDER AND IS QUIETER THAN HE USE TO BE. WILL YOU MAKE SURE HE GETS THE SPACE AND QUIET HE NEEDS?

Absolutely! We recognise that all pets are different with individual personalities and as they get older, they often prefer the quiet life. We ask all pet owners to fill out a form detailing their pet's likes, dislikes, favourite food and so on. Then we get to know your pet and how we can make his or her stay a happy and comfortable one. We put quieter pets in hutches off ground level so that they are a bit higher up. That way, they won't be alarmed by our dog, any children that may visit and any exercising pets who may go up to the hutch. Each hutch has a dark and cosy sleep compartment and a larger section where they can play and see what is going on outside of their hutch. Your guinea pig would have his own hutch all to himself and his own pen if you are happy for him to go outside. And if you think he would like cuddles, we can fit plenty of those in too!

MY RABBITS ARE A BONDED PAIR. CAN THEY STAY TOGETHER?

Yes they can. Our hutches are approved by the Rabbit Welfare Association and are a lovely size for two bunnies. They can also share an outdoor pen so they can spend their entire holiday together as they would at home.

ARE ALL THE PETS MIXED TOGETHER DURING PLAY SESSIONS?

All our guests are able to see other pets from their hutches or outdoor pens but they don't have direct contact with other pets because of the risk of fighting - and we wouldn't want any female pets going home pregnant! So no, the pets do not all play together in one indoor area or pen. Single pets play and exercise in a space on their own and others are kept in their pairs or groups only. Indoor play takes place one pet/one pair/one group at a time. During busy times of year, outdoor play and use of the pens is rotated.

WHAT TIME CAN WE DROP OFF AND COLLECT OUR PET?

Drop off and collection times (and visits to meet us and look around before booking) are made by appointment on any day from Monday to Sunday. We offer flexibility with regards times and if you are working and need a later drop off or leaving early and need to drop off early, then that is fine. However, sometimes we have errands to run and so on so it is always best to arrange an estimated time of arrival beforehand to make sure we are here.

CAN I COLLECT MY PET EARLIER THAN THE DEPARTURE DATE ORIGINALLY PLANNED?

You can but you are still liable for the full amount of your pet/s stay. See our Terms and Conditions for further information and for our cancellation policy.

WE ARE HEADING STRAIGHT TO THE AIRPORT ONCE WE DROP OFF OUR PET. IS IT OK TO LEAVE HER CARRY BOX WITH YOU?

That would be fine. All carry boxes are clearly labelled and stored in our lockable storage unit. They are not used for transporting any other pet.

WHAT METHODS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

We accept cash, cheque or you can pay by bank transfer. See our Terms and Conditions for further information.

MY PET HAS TO HAVE MEDICATION. ARE YOU HAPPY TO BOARD HIM?

We are more than happy to take pets who need medication administering. Before your pet arrives, it is really important to discuss any health issues and recent illnesses with us so we are aware and we can make the right decisions with regards to your pet's wellbeing (and that of our other guests) while your pet is with us. There is a health section on the information form you will be provided with so you have the opportunity to let us know as much as possible so we can ensure your pet has a happy and comfortable time with us and we can cater for him properly. All medication needs to be clearly labelled and will be stored as advised on the label.

HOW DO YOU KEEP THE HUTCHES CLEAN?

Good hutch and enclosure hygiene is very important to us and each hutch is steam cleaned in between guests. We use environmentally friendly products to disinfect hutches and whenever possible we use natural cleaners such as bicarbonate of soda and lemon juice. We never use bleach. All cleaning cloths, towels, blankets and soft toys are laundered using non-biological washing powder to minimise the risk of skin irritations.

DO YOU PROVIDE A PET PICK UP/DROP OFF SERVICE?

This is a service we have provided on occasions but as Keith is the only driver, the customer would need to allow for his working hours so a little flexibility may be needed. Just let us know where you are and we can work out a price for you.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING FOR MY PET’S STAY?

Tiny pets usually arrive in their own accommodation and all the things that go with it - tubes, wheels, whatever you happen to have in your hamster or gerbil enclosure to keep them entertained! However, we do have toys and boredom breakers for all pets, tiny ones included.

If your rabbit/s or guinea pig/s have a particular toy or comfort blanket that they like, you are more than welcome to bring it along for them.

All food is provided but if there is a specific food that your pet likes or if there are vegetables at home that need using up, please feel free to bring them along so they won’t be wasted. If there is anything you think they might run out of while they are here, just let us know and we can get it for you. No need to bring bowls or bottles as we provide those too.

IF THERE ARE ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO ASK, PLEASE DON’T HESITATE TO GET IN TOUCH WITH US. WE ARE MORE THAN HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUERIES YOU MAY HAVE.
